How to find us

Here at Ndau Lodge we aim to give you the very best experience and amazing memories that you will remember for many years. To begin, we should give you hints and tips that will help you to plan your journey and information that will help you to make the best out of your stay.

Generally, car hire is more expensive in Malawi than in most countries and navigating the road network can be challenging, particularly as there is a general absence of road signs. As such, for travellers’ coaches and private taxis are the main forms of public  transport.

From Lilongwe:  Taxis, coaches and car hire are the main forms of transport.

Private Taxis: As required we can organize a respected local taxi/driver service who can meet and greet you from the airport and bring you to the lodge. This taxi can also accompany you to other destinations and days out to Nyika and other parts of the country.

Coaches: There are two types of coaches of note of which include SoSoSo and Kwesy Bus. SoSoSo leaves from Area 3 outside Game Store Lilongwe at 7 am and 12.00 noon. Kwesy Bus is obtained from Gateway Mall Lilongwe . These are generally considered the most comfortable but more expensive.

The cheaper options are the buses which leave from the coach station in Area 2 Lilongwe  but be warned they only leave when full, and this may take some hours.

If you do wish to take a coach, we recommend that you take the ride to Mzuzu and navigate to Nkhata Bay from there (see below).

Mzuzu: - 45 kilometres from Nkhata Bay and approximately 50-minute car drive.

Public Transport choices include private car taxis and motorbike taxis. These are generally available from the taxi rank opposite the bus depot and are readily available. There are also minibus taxis which are shared and drop off at many locations, making them slower.

Driving: This is relatively straight forward, as you come out of Mzuzu follow the road signs to Nkhata Bay along the M5, this is a very long and winding road, when you reach the Chintheche turn off /roadblock continue down the hill into Nkhata Bay Boma (Centre). There you will find sign posting to Ndau Lodge or follow the instructions below.

If you miss these directions don’t be concerned just telephone the lodge +265897437035.

Ndau Lodge: Driving instructions from Nkhata Bay Boma:

You should drive towards Chikale Beach, over the bridge and up the hill, taking the first right. Continue along this road then take the first left down a hill with Chikale Primary School on the right. Follow the road for approximately 300 meters. Take a further right turn down a narrow lane and Ndau Lodge is found at the end. We appreciate it isn’t easy to Navigate but our staff will be willing to help you if you need further guidance. Please ring +265897437035.
